A baby injured in a morning house fire in Richardson is expected to be okay.
The mother of the child called 911 to tell fire crews her house was on fire in the 2300 block of Shady Creek Drive around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
When fire crews arrived, fire and smoke was pouring out of the one-story home. Fire crews were able to get the baby out.
The baby was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, but should be okay, said Richardson Fire Chief Alan Palomba.
The mother wasn't injured, Palomba said.
The house is likely a total loss due to fire and smoke, he said. No cause has yet been determined.
